This project is the result of a MGH collaboration with instructors for a continuing education initiative for a course called “Diagnosing Conflict.” The goal of the video was to show an example of a conflict arising in a surgical procedure for a wound closure, and what happened between the characters.
We started by talking about how long the end product would be, and how it would be delivered. As a group, we decided that it would be four separate deliverables: a parts 1-3, and one composite video removing any overlap. The instructor would provide voice-over and the script for all 4 videos.
With a clear deliverable in mind, I went forward and made some character designs based on some personality archetypes included in the course. Knowing roughly what the story would be, I created 6 different animal characters that would represent the medical workers present in the room during the conflict.
After receiving the narrative from the instructor, I went ahead and made some rough storyboards and a video with all of the still images I wanted to use for the final. At this point, I also made the appropriate backdrops and props needed.

Since I was the only artist on this project, I had to smartly allocate my time to complete this by the four month deadline. The videos went through a few minor revisions, to the final product being released with the course.
